Licence terms

for the program Copy 42 · As of October 2026. The German version is binding.

1. Scope

These terms govern the use of the program Copy 42 for Windows and macOS and of the Copy 42 phone app by André Lucas, Epic Art and Sound (“we”). Licences are sold by Freemius (Freemius, Inc., USA) as authorised reseller; purchase, payment and refunds are governed by its terms of sale, use of the program by these licence terms.

2. Free trial

You can try Copy 42 on any computer free of charge for 28 days from the first start, with all features. After that, sharing the clipboard stays free. A computer can only send and receive files and folders with a licence.

3. The phone app

The Copy 42 phone app is free and needs no licence. It can send files to other phones and to computers with a licence. After the trial, a computer without a licence no longer accepts files from phones either.

4. What the licence allows

5. What is not allowed

Reverse engineering is only allowed to the extent expressly permitted by law (§§ 69d, 69e German Copyright Act).

6. Online functions

Your data goes directly from device to device in your own network, never via our servers. For the licence check, Copy 42 on the computer occasionally needs an internet connection: at start-up and once a day. Without internet, the last successful check stays valid for 30 days. What is transmitted is described in the privacy policy.

7. Third-party components

Copy 42 contains components by other manufacturers, e.g. Electron. Their own licences apply; they are listed in the program under Help → “About Copy 42” → “Show licences”.

8. Warranty and liability

Statutory rights apply. Please report defects to info@copy42.de.

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health and under the Product Liability Act. In case of slight negligence we are only liable for breach of an essential obligation on whose fulfilment you may rely, and then limited to the typical, foreseeable damage.

Copy 42 never overwrites or deletes your files; received items only go to the receive folder. We still recommend regular backups.

9. Final provisions

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
