How to get files from PC to Mac
Install
Copy 42 on the Windows PC and on the Mac. Both need to be on the same network – Wi-Fi or cable, it doesn’t matter.
Windows + Mac
Connect once
Both computers show the same code. You confirm it once; after that they find each other by themselves.

Drag onto the window
Drag a file or folder onto the Copy 42 window, tick the Mac – done. On the Mac everything lands in Downloads › Copy 42.
just drop it
From the Mac to the Windows PC it works the same way, just the other way round.
Whole folders and large files
Folders arrive with all their subfolders, and so do large videos and project folders. If the Wi-Fi drops in between, Copy 42 carries on where it stopped instead of starting over. And if you have several computers, send the same file to two of them or to all at once: just tick the devices in the window.
Copy and paste between Mac and Windows
Copy 42 shares the clipboard too. Ctrl+C on the PC, ⌘+V on the Mac – text and images are across in about a second. The other way round works the same. You get your last five copies back with Ctrl+Alt+V, on the Mac with ⌃+⌥+V.
Plain text and images go across – formatting such as bold or tables stays on the one computer. More about it: Share the clipboard between Windows and Mac.
Why not just use a network share?
It works – but it’s fiddly: turn on sharing on the PC, set up a user and password, choose “Connect to Server” on the Mac and type in an address. And often the Mac still doesn’t show up on the Windows network. Copy 42 needs none of that. The computers find each other on the Wi-Fi by themselves, the transfer is encrypted, and you only send what you want to send.
What Copy 42 is not: not a network drive and not folder sync. Copy 42 doesn’t mirror folders or access the other computer – you choose what goes across. Shortcuts are not sent along. And it only works when both computers are on the same network.
