Copy text, a link or an image as usual – in any app.

text, link, image

2

Tap Paste

Open Copy 42 and tap “Paste”. It’s already on its way. Text from an app also goes via “Share” › Copy 42.

one tap – it’s over there

3

Paste on the PC

On the PC it’s on the clipboard: Ctrl+V, done. On the Mac ⌘+V.

no retyping

Send text and links from PC to phone

On the PC you copy as usual with Ctrl+C. If Copy 42 is open on the phone, the text is on the phone’s clipboard straight away – you just paste it. That’s how the long link, the address or the Wi-Fi password for your visitors gets onto the phone, without emailing yourself and without a messenger. Your last five copies are also listed in the app; tap one to copy it again.

Shared clipboard for Android, Windows and Mac

Copy 42 is available for Windows 10 and 11, for the Mac and as a free app for Android (Android 10 or later). You connect the phone with your computers once using a code; after that, text, links and images go back and forth between phone, PC and Mac – no account, no cloud and no detour via a server. The iPhone app is coming soon.

Fully automatic between PC and Mac

Between computers you don’t need a button: what you copy on the PC, you paste on the Mac, and vice versa – text and images, in about a second. Copy 42 also remembers your last five copies, including what came from the other devices. With Ctrl+Alt+V (on the Mac ⌃+⌥+V) you choose which one to paste. More about it: Share the clipboard between Windows and Mac.

What happens to passwords

from the password managereverything else •••••• stays here! encrypted, only to your devices

Passwords from a password manager are marked as secret – Copy 42 doesn’t pass those on. Text you copy yourself goes encrypted only to your own devices that you connected once, never via a server.

Good to know: On the phone, Copy 42 doesn’t secretly sync the clipboard in the background – Android only allows that for the app that is currently open. You send what should go across with “Paste”, and you receive while Copy 42 is open. Text (up to 2 MB) and images are transferred, no formatting. And all devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi.
